The Martin County Legacy Leadership Class is partnering with local schools and 4-H to support the Martin County Council on Aging through a community canned food drive. The drive is part of the class’s capstone project and will benefit the Council on Aging, which prepares more than 18,000 meals annually for senior citizens across the county. Donations of approved canned goods can be dropped off during the Loogootee versus Shoals boys varsity basketball game on Jan. 23. Organizers say the effort is aimed at helping seniors who rely on these services.
