Local Soil and Water Conservation Districts will hold their annual meetings in early February, inviting community members to attend, learn, and enjoy an evening of food and special presentations. The Daviess County SWCD will host its 84th Annual Meeting on Thursday, February 5 at the Washington Community Building. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the meeting beginning at 6:30. The evening will feature a special viewing of “These Roots Run Deep in Healthy Soil,” Parts 1 and 2, produced by Indiana filmmaker Query Productions. Emily Kelly with the Natural Resources Conservation Service will serve as guest speaker. A meal will be catered by Wittmer’s Catering. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. The Martin County SWCD will hold its Annual Meeting on Monday, February 9 at the Martin County Community Building on U.S. Highway 50 in Loogootee. Doors open at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30. Guest speaker will be lifelong farmer and Travis Burkhart Foundation co-founder Mike Burkhart. Meal tickets are $5, and children 18 and under eat free.
