Two life-long Daviess County residents have announced their intentions to seek seats on the Daviess County Council in the upcoming May Primary Election.

Phil Cornelius has filed to run for the Republican nomination in County Council District 2. Cornelius is a lifelong Daviess County resident and a retired employee of the Daviess County Highway Department, where he served for more than 32 years. He says his campaign will focus on fiscal responsibility and careful management of county budgets.

Kip Kelley has announced his candidacy for County Council District 3, an open seat with current councilman Mike Myers not seeking re-election. Kelley is also a lifelong county resident and currently serves as Superintendent of the Washington Parks Department. He says his priorities include responsible financial management, economic development, and improving local amenities.

The Primary Election will be held May 5, with the General Election scheduled for November 3.
