
Robert A. “Bob” Evans, aged 93, of Washington, IN, passed away on January 4, 2026, in Jasper, IN. Born on August 6, 1932, to the late Herman Sr. and Susan (Rayner) Evans, Bob grew into a man of esteemed character and admirable devotion to his family and community.
Bob, a proud US Army Veteran, served his country honorably during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Helen L. (Traylor) Evans, on July 24, 1950. Their enduring marriage of 75 years was a testament to their unwavering commitment to each other.
Throughout his years, Bob worked diligently, first on his father-in-law’s family farm, then at McCord’s until their closure. He also dedicated many years to the Daviess County Highway as a dependable truck driver.
Bob’s life was a reflection of his faith; he was a longtime member of Montgomery Christian Church and previously at Bethany Christian Church. He served in various roles, including Deacon and Youth Sunday School teacher, influencing many lives with his wisdom and kindness.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories with his beloved wife, Helen. His memory will continue to be cherished by his niece, two nephews, and special friends Jerry and Sandy Ziegler, who affectionately called him Dad. His presence will also be greatly missed by his wife’s special cousins, Kristi, Sandy, and Kim, who fondly called him Uncle Bob.
Bob was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Herman Jr. and Bernie Lee; and his sister, Louise (Tredway) Tharp.
He lived a life marked by simple pleasures, heartfelt conversations, and a dedication to lifting others. The life of Robert A. “Bob” Evans will continue to inspire, reminding us of the profound impact one life can have on many.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Mike Francis.
