ACLU Files New Legal Action Against Loogootee Over PrideFest Ordinance

images-49

The ACLU of Indiana has filed two legal actions against the City of Loogootee over a newly passed ordinance that could prevent the annual PrideFest from being held on the city’s Public Square. The ACLU says the ordinance contains provisions previously ruled unconstitutional by a federal court in 2025. That ruling allowed PrideFest to continue, but Loogootee later passed a new ordinance with similar language. The ACLU has now filed a new lawsuit and a motion for contempt, asking the court to block the ordinance and allow PrideFest 2026 to proceed as planned. The organization says the city is not complying with prior court orders and continues to restrict the event’s location.
