Washington Mayor Dave Rhoads says the city is kicking off 2026 with a full schedule of regular meetings and the final stages of major highway improvements. During his monthly update on “Take Five for Your Community,” Rhoads noted that Common Council meetings are set for January 12 and 26, while city offices will be closed Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Planning Commission, Park Board and Board of Zoning Appeals meetings are also scheduled throughout the month. Rhoads said the long-running State Road 50 project is now largely complete, with only minor “punch list” items remaining, including raising manhole covers, additional concrete work and final striping. He said the project, funded primarily by INDOT, significantly improves one of Washington’s main thoroughfares. The mayor added that the city will continue focusing on infrastructure improvements and community development as the new year gets underway.
