Martin County Cancer Patient Services is celebrating a strong year of growth and community support as it enters 2026, following a successful 2025 that saw expanded outreach and record fundraising. The nonprofit, which assists local residents battling cancer, raised more than $24,000 last year through donations and fundraisers, including popular events like the Mathias Chicken Dinner and its online auction. Those funds helped provide transportation assistance, nutritional support, and medical supplies to 31 local patients. The organization also marked four years of service in the community, growing from just four original volunteers to a team of 11. The group continues to focus on meeting essential needs for cancer patients in Martin County while expanding awareness of available services. In 2026, the organization is preparing for its annual online auction, scheduled for April 16–23, and is currently accepting donations and volunteer help. Residents seeking assistance or wishing to support the program can contact Martin County Cancer Patient Services by phone at 812-276-5857, through its Facebook page, or at martincountycancerpatientservices.org.
