A Southern Indiana judge who played a key role in expanding problem-solving courts in the state is preparing to retire after nearly 20 years on the bench. Floyd Superior Court 3 Judge Maria Granger announced this week that she will not seek a fourth term, bringing her judicial career to a close. First elected in 2008 to the newly created court, Granger has presided over major felony and civil cases and is credited with launching Indiana’s first veterans court while helping broaden the reach of other problem-solving courts. Granger, a Washington native and Washington High School graduate, will retire following the end of her current term.
