Semi Truck Fire Reported North of Washington

fire-2-2

Fire crews responded Friday morning to a semi truck fire at 1510 West 450 North in rural Daviess County. Dispatchers reported the semi was fully engulfed in flames but positioned away from nearby buildings, with no one inside the vehicle at the time of the fire. Fire officials said the blaze appeared to be caused by an electrical issue in the cab. The trailer, which was hauling bean meal, was not on fire. Crews noted the truck contained significant amounts of fuel and hydraulic fluid, prompting a multi-department response and the use of additional tankers. No injuries were reported, and the fire was contained without threatening nearby structures. A wrecker was later called to remove the vehicle, and all units cleared the scene later in the morning.
