
Terre Haute Police say a 64-year-old woman was found dead Monday afternoon in the 300 block of South 4th Street, leading to the arrest of her son on murder and burglary charges. Officers were called to the home after a relative discovered the door forced open and found the victim, Renate Whitlock of Terre Haute, unresponsive. Investigators quickly launched a homicide investigation and identified the victim’s son, 28-year-old Lamar F. Whitlock, as the primary suspect. Police say Whitlock cooperated with detectives and provided a statement regarding the incident. He was taken into custody and booked into the Vigo County Jail. His initial court appearance is scheduled for December 17. The Terre Haute Police Department offered condolences to the family following the tragic event.
