Loogootee Traffic Stop Leads to OVWI, Drug Arrest

A South Bend man was arrested Sunday morning after a traffic stop for speeding on US 231 near Loogootee led to an OVWI investigation. Master Trooper Jarrod Lents pulled over 52-year-old Brian Hellenburg, who showed signs of impairment and indicators of criminal activity. A search of the vehicle uncovered suspected marijuana. Hellenburg was taken to Daviess Community Hospital for a chemical test before being booked into the Martin County Jail. He faces charges of Operating While Intoxicated (Class A Misdemeanor) and Possession of Marijuana (Class B Misdemeanor). He is being held on bond. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
