Sharon Ann Murphy Herring

Sharon Ann Murphy Herring, age 81, passed into eternal life in the morning hours of December 8, 2025 at The Villages of Oak Ridge in Washington. Sharon was born on December 28, 1943 in Washington, Indiana to Fred and Loretta (Haag) Murphy. She Married Francis ‘Mike’ Herring on November 26, 1966, graduated from the St Mary School of Nursing with a degree in Nursing, became a Registered Nurse, worked at the Daviess County Hospital (now Daviess Community Hospital) and retired from Washington Nursing Center after many years of dedicated and loving service. She was a member of Daviess County Right to Life, Daughters of Isabella, Legion of Mary, and Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed boating, camping and spending time with her sisters and friends. Sharon’s loving and caring nature was present wherever she was whether at work, Sunday Brunches at grandma’s house or gathering with family and friends. The warmth of her loving, giving heart always shined through.
• Sharon was a devoted mother to Susan (Ali) Ndoye, Mary Christine Taylor, and Maria(Bryan) Sergesketter; a cherished grandmother, Mar (Julie) Wane, Sarah (Chad) Lovan, Michael (Meggan) Aglyim, Karim (Jayle) Ndoye, Amie Ndoye, Alyssa Herring , Zackery Taylor, Tristin Taylor, Kendra (Christian)Finney. Laura Taylor, Jenna Sergesketter, and Jessica Sergesketter; a loving great grandmother to Laila, Nola, Lino, Bryce, Amal, Dameon, Boue, Shandi, Jonathan, Caterina, Simon, Gwen, Naomi, and CJ; she was a beloved sister to Marilyn Davis, Mary Jean Bassler; sister in-law to Mary Murphy, Jeanie Murphy, Mary Ann (Les)Stoll, Martha (Layne) Lindley, and Janet Herring.
• Sharon was preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis “Mike Herring; sibblings, Virginia (Al) Moore, James Murphy, Steve Murphy, Jim Herring, Patty (Mike) Elmer Tedd Davis, Joe Bassler and Joyce Sinnott. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday December 27, 2025 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Washington. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:50 a.m. at the church. The Daviess County Nuese’s Honor Guard will conduct memorial service before visitation at the church at 8:45

Ed L Lee Mortuary is honored to have been entrusted with Sharon’s funeral arrangements.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday December 27, 2025 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Washington. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:50 a.m. at the church. The Daviess County Nuese’s Honor Guard will conduct memorial service before visitation at the church at 8:45 am.
