Washington City Council, Board of Works, and County Commissioners Prepare for Upcoming Meetings

Local government in Washington and Daviess County will hold several key public meetings next week, covering city ordinances, financial studies, department updates, and annual reports.

Washington City Council will meet Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m.

The Washington Common Council will meet Monday evening in the Council Chambers at 200 Harned Avenue. The agenda includes:

Approval of previous meeting minutes

Final reading of an ordinance creating a new chapter of the city code

Introduction of an ordinance amending a 2024 city measure

A Cost-of-Service Study presentation by Reedy Financial Services

Discussion and possible approval of 2026 employee holidays

The Council will open with a moment of silence for veterans and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Board of Public Works & Safety

Immediately following the Council meeting, the Board of Public Works & Safety will meet to approve minutes and review submitted claims.

Daviess County Commissioners — Dec. 9 at 9 a.m.

The Commissioners will meet Tuesday morning in the County Government Center. Agenda items include:

Updates from the Highway Department

Farm lease openings

Presentations on Placer AI data and the 2025 Visitors Bureau annual report

A DCEDC letter of support update

SOFR contract discussion

Nepotism and disclosure forms

AXON purchase agreement

2026 buggy permits and legal services agreements

Payroll and claims dockets

Reports from the Treasurer’s Office and county budget updates will also be reviewed.
