Indiana Governor Mike Braun has announced the launch of the Family First Workplace initiative, a new pilot program that will allow eligible state employees to bring their infants to work during the first six months of life. The pilot will begin immediately within the Governor’s Office, the Indiana Department of Health, and the State Personnel Department, with agencies now implementing procedures issued by State Personnel. The initiative builds on Braun’s earlier expansion of paid parental leave for state workers, including paid childbirth recovery leave and paid leave for parents grieving the loss of an infant. If the pilot is successful, the state may expand the Infants-at-Work program to additional agencies. Governor Braun said the effort is part of a broader push to make Indiana a leader in family-friendly policy.
