Dennis Ogdon Cannon, age 67, of Washington, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, while in hospice care. He was born to the late George and Margaret (Wuepper) Cannon on December 3, 1957. He graduated from Washington High School in 1976 and while in high school and for several years thereafter, he worked for Boyd Farms. He attended Vincennes University and began working for Indianapolis Power and Light, first at the Petersburg plant and then at the Indianapolis office. There he excelled at his job and was a valuable employee due to his vast knowledge. He loved to discuss his job and the inner workings of a power plant. After over 30 successful years at IPL, he retired early and moved back to Washington to be closer to family and friends.
Dennis enjoyed taking drives in the country, playing pool and cards with his friends, debating people about politics, and buying new Jeeps as soon as they came on the market. He was extremely intelligent and remembered everything that he heard and read.
He is survived by brother David (Tana) Cannon of Madisonville, KY, and sisters Rebecca (Steve) Owen of Tell City, Indiana, and Beth (Greg) Mason of Washington. Also surviving are nieces and nephews David Cannon, Jr. (Carmen), Bradley Belcher, Sara Voges (Jason), Kaitlyn Cross (Justin), and Jared Mason (Ashley). Nine great nieces and nephews also survive him along with several cousins. He is also survived by Aunt Kathy Skomp and Uncle John (Wanda) Wuepper. He was predeceased by his parents, paternal grandparents David and Martha (Chandler) Cannon, maternal grandparents Rudolph and Juanita (Lashley) Wuepper and his beloved dog, Jake.
There will be no visitation, and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
