State Police Investigating Multiple Swatting Incidents Targeting Lawmakers

indiana-state-police-2

The Indiana State Police say they are investigating several recent swatting incidents directed at members of the Indiana General Assembly. Swatting involves falsely reporting an emergency, often through a phone call or email, to prompt a large, immediate law enforcement response to a targeted location. Police warn the tactic is dangerous, illegal, and puts both officers and the public at risk. ISP officials say they are working with local, county, and federal partners to identify those responsible and plan to pursue criminal charges to the fullest extent of the law. The public is encouraged to report any information that could help the investigation by emailing iifc@iifc.in.gov. If you see something or know something…say something, the agency said.
