This weekend on Focus on the Community, we will spotlight the revival of Washington’s historic Indiana Theater under its new owners, Russ and Tanya Jordan. The Jordans took over the Main Street landmark on October 1 and have already begun bringing new energy and new events to the nearly 100-year-old venue. Russ Jordan said that the family returned to Washington earlier this year and unexpectedly found themselves becoming theater owners after a conversation with longtime friend and former owner Dusty Davis. Since then, the Jordans have hosted free community movie events, themed showings, and special programs — including a Veterans Day free movie and a Halloween crowd of more than 250 people. Jordan says the family’s goal is to make the theater a true community hub again, offering more than just movies. Plans include live shows, comedians, magicians, concerts, and even a Daviess County talent show in 2026. The theater is also updating sound and lighting and preparing for major releases such as Wicked 2 and Zootopia 2.
They hope to eventually expand upstairs offerings with dinner-and-show events and will continue bringing affordable entertainment to local families, including $4 Tuesday movie nights. Jordan emphasized the community’s support and noted the theater will be giving back monthly to local youth organizations. You can hear the full interview on Focus on the Community, airing Saturday morning on Memories 107.9.
