The Washington Police Department responded early Saturday morning to a single-vehicle crash at 100 East and National Highway after a Chrysler 300 left the roadway and struck a water line, causing significant damage. According to police logs, the vehicle was unoccupied when officers arrived around 5:09 a.m. The impact caused a 40-foot geyser of water to shoot into the air before city crews shut off the main to begin repairs. Officers located the vehicle’s owner at a nearby residence, but the individual refused to speak with law enforcement. The car was towed to Briggeman’s lot and will be held for investigation. The Washington Water Department remained on scene for maintenance following the incident. No injuries were reported.
