Capitol Police Seek Public’s Help After Two Endangered Tortoises Stolen from Indianapolis Zoo

The Capitol Police Section of the Indiana State Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating two critically endangered tortoises stolen from the Indianapolis Zoo earlier this month. Investigators say the theft occurred sometime between 10 a.m. on October 11 and 10 a.m. on October 12. The missing animals include an Egyptian tortoise, which has a noticeable scar on its underside, and a Northern spider tortoise. Both animals are microchipped. Anyone with information is urged to contact Capitol Police at (317) 234-2131 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477). No further details have been released as the investigation continues.
