Police urge Hoosiers not to answer unfamiliar numbers and to verify any suspicious calls directly with the agency or person involved. Residents are reminded never to share personal information such as birth dates, Social Security numbers, or credit card details. Transactions made via prepaid cards or wire transfers are often impossible to recover. ISP encourages everyone to discuss these scams with family members and stay alert, noting that awareness is the best defense against fraud.
