
The Indiana Department of Transportation is now accepting applications for its Fiscal Year 2026 Community Crossings Matching Grant program. Cities, towns, and counties across Indiana can apply through 5 p.m. ET on Friday, October 31. The program, which helps fund local road and bridge projects, has awarded more than $2 billion in matching funds since 2016. Recent changes include one annual call for projects per fiscal year, a reduced program cap of $100 million, and a $1 million annual cap per local government unit.
Match requirements vary by population:
Towns and cities under 10,000 residents: 80/20 match
Towns and cities over 10,000 residents: 50/50 match
Counties under 55,000 residents: 80/20 match
Counties over 55,000 residents: 50/50 match
Award announcements are expected in late 2025.
