Mary Lee Gallas, 79, of Shoals, Indiana passed away on Sunday September 21, 2025, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.

She was born on July 8, 1946, in New York to Maynard and Louise Partin.

Mary married John Gallas. She was a proud United States Military Veteran. Mary spent her younger years in New York and Chicago before eventually making Shoals, Indiana her home. She was devoted to her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy. Mary was a wonderful cook, always ready to share a good meal and a warm welcome. She cooked at Velma’s Diner for over 25 years, where she was known for her work, kind heart, and friendly smile. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family and remembered by all that knew her.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Gallas, and son-in-law, Roger Bridegroom.

She is survived by her children, Dawn Baker, Heather (Lester) Brumett, Joanna Hurst, Terry Alfred, Tim Baker, Jim Baker, Ray Baker, and Chris Bridegroom, grandchildren, Joshua (Felicia) Simmons, Cameron Brown, Jordan (Brentany) Brown, Tasha (Donnie) Cato, Skyler Brummett, Kelsey Brummett, Jacob (Teauna) Heshelman, Dakota Heshelman, Brianna (Dylan) Jones, Christian (Brittany) Williams, great-grandchildren, Felix, Elias, Carson, Zoee, Vincent, Clayton, Tessa, Lilliana, Mya, Desmond, Jayce, Tara, Dayten, Nava, Tucker, Oliver, Noahh, Myles, 3 boys, and 4 girls.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
