Washington Council, Daviess Commissioners Set for Key Meetings Next Week

The City of Washington will hold a public hearing Monday, Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Common Council Chambers at City Hall. The hearing will focus on Ordinance No. 20-2025, which sets appropriations and tax rates for the city in 2026. Immediately following the hearing, the Washington Common Council will meet. The agenda includes:

Approval of minutes and claims

Resolution No. 6-2025, authorizing a transfer of funds in forfeiture and seized asset accounts

Several ordinances, including revisions to city code, a subdivision replat, 2026 appropriations and tax rates, and regulations for rental dwellings

Discussion and acceptance of a bid for wastewater system improvements

The Board of Public Works and Safety will convene after the council meeting to review claims and consider a salary change within the Fire Department.

 

The Daviess County Commissioners will hold their next meeting Tuesday, September 9, at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners Room at the Government Center. The agenda includes a courthouse renovation update, highway project reports, a bond extension for CR200N, and discussion of a new computer purchasing policy. Commissioners will also review contracts for the Health Department. Other items include an ordinance on property disposal, 2026 commissioner appointments, and approval of payroll and claims dockets. The meeting will also cover correspondence from IDEM regarding Clean Waste Solutions, Inc. and a Board of Finance budget report.
