The Indiana Secured School Safety Board has approved more than $27.1 million in grants statewide, with over $1.3 million coming to schools in Daviess, Martin, and Pike counties. Locally, Barr-Reeve ($12,150), North Daviess ($17,010), Washington Catholic ($14,254), and Washington Community Schools ($81,000) were awarded in Daviess County. Loogootee ($16,740) and Shoals ($40,499) schools received funding in Martin County, while Pike County Schools secured $81,000. The grants, administered by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, help fund school resource officers, safety technology, active warning systems, threat assessments, and support programs. Schools match a portion of the funding based on district size and project scope. Priority was given to first-time applicants, while returning schools received 92% of their top funding requests.
