A Dubois County judge has ordered property owners to allow state surveyors onto their land for environmental studies tied to the Mid-States Corridor Project, ending months of resistance that delayed progress and raised costs. Circuit Court Judge Nathan Verkamp issued the permanent injunction on August 7, ruling that the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) met all legal requirements for notice and access. Contractors with the Lochmueller Group will now move forward with Tier 2 studies, which will determine the route and design of the proposed roadway. The surveys will include environmental assessments, archaeological digs, and mapping, with local law enforcement authorized to assist if needed.
