A routine traffic stop in Washington led to the arrest of Martin J. Hoevel, 50, on multiple charges Friday morning, according to Indiana State Police. Around 10:17 a.m. on Aug. 15, Master Trooper Jarrod Lents stopped a Lincoln Navigator near Center Street and NE 11th Street for expired plates and a seatbelt violation. Lents discovered the temporary tags had been altered and were months out of date. Hoevel was taken into custody for forgery. A search revealed suspected methamphetamine on his person, and additional paraphernalia was found inside the vehicle. Hoevel was booked into the Daviess County Jail on preliminary charges of Forgery, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Paraphernalia. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
