The Vincennes Community School Corporation approved advertising its proposed 2026 budget Monday, totaling just over $44 million. About $24.8 million is planned for the Education Fund, driven largely by enrollment-based state funding. Operations would receive $10.6 million, debt service $4.6 million, and the Rainy Day Fund $4 million. The advertised tax rate is $1.3263 per $100 of assessed value, lower than last year’s estimate. Superintendent Greg Parsley noted actual rates often end up lower due to state adjustments; last year’s final rate was about 91 cents. Parsley said the Operations Fund faces ongoing strain from property tax caps, with utilities and contracted services requiring supplemental transfers. Debt service remains fully funded for projects including high school renovations. A public hearing will precede the final vote before the budget is sent to the state for approval.
