The Daviess County Museum will wrap up its “Struggle for Liberty” lecture series on Saturday, September 13, at 1 p.m., with a free program open to the public. Lisa Ice-Jones, Director of Grouseland in Vincennes, will discuss the rivalry between Shawnee leader Tecumseh and Indiana Territory Governor William Henry Harrison, culminating in the 1811 Battle of Tippecanoe. The talk will explore the conflict between westward expansion and Native resistance led by Tecumseh and his brother, Tenskwatawa. The program will also highlight Major Joseph Hamilton Daviess, who was killed at Tippecanoe and for whom Daviess County is named. For details, visit daviesscountyhistory.com.
