Daviess County officials have announced a series of upcoming budget and council meetings. The Daviess County Council will hold its 2025 budget hearings on August 27 and 28 at 8:30 a.m. in the Daviess County Commissioners’ Room at the Government Center. A budget work session is planned for September 3 at 8:30 a.m., followed by budget adoption and the regular council meeting on September 17 at 9:00 a.m.
In Washington, the City Common Council will meet on August 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 200 Harned Avenue. The agenda includes the introduction of four ordinances setting 2026 pay for city employees, public safety officers, and elected officials, as well as an amendment to prior ordinances. The council will also discuss filling a vacancy on the Washington Carnegie Public Library Board, with Executive Director Teresa Heidenreich recommending Clair Gill to replace outgoing member Lee Hoefling.
