A woman is dead and a man is in custody following a shooting Tuesday afternoon at Cardinal Liquor Store in Vincennes. Police responded to the scene around 12:56 p.m. and found 30-year-old Taylor Hendershot suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived. She later died from her injuries. The suspect, 32-year-old Dylan A. Smith, reportedly fled in a black SUV, which was later found wrecked a block away. Smith was located inside a nearby residence on Carbon Street, armed with a knife. After a standoff lasting several hours, police used less-lethal methods to take him into custody. Smith has been arrested and charged with murder. An autopsy has been scheduled for Hendershot as the investigation continues.
