Boonville Mayor Charles Wyatt, 71, has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash, a Class B misdemeanor, following a hit-and-run incident on May 14. Indiana State Police say the mayor allegedly backed his city-owned 2016 Ford F-150 into another vehicle while leaving the VFW in Boonville around 10:43 p.m. and left without notifying the other driver or police. The victim, who was still inside their vehicle, was able to provide a description and license plate number to authorities. Police later found the damaged vehicle at Wyatt’s residence but received no response at the door. The case was handed to a special prosecutor in Knox County, who filed the charge. A court date has yet to be set.
