Street work continues in Bicknell as improvements advance on East 4th Street and South Main Street. Mayor Thomas Estabrook reports that base rock is being laid from Freelandville heading east, with additional work near Dant Boulevard and Thomas Street. Once the base layer is complete, curb and gutter installation will follow. Curbing is already finished on South Main, and new driveway approaches are being poured. Sidewalk grading is also underway. The mayor also announced that demolition of the former D&B gas station is expected to begin next week. The city purchased the property earlier this month following environmental testing. Crews will remove buildings, pavement, and later, underground fuel tanks. The Knox County Redevelopment Commission is funding the cleanup and helped secure the city’s Community Crossings grant.
