The Indiana Department of Education released the spring 2025 ILEARN scores Wednesday, showing steady statewide gains in math proficiency but little movement in English/Language Arts (ELA) performance. According to the report, 42.1% of Indiana students met or exceeded state standards in math, up more than five percentage points since 2021. ELA proficiency, however, held mostly steady at 40.6%, just 0.1 percentage points above 2021 and nearly unchanged from last year.
Locally, math and ELA performance varied:
Barr-Reeve Schools reported 63.1% math proficiency and 43.5% ELA proficiency.
North Daviess showed stronger ELA results (45.6%) than math (32.2%).
Washington Community Schools scored 25.3% in math and 24% in ELA.
Shoals Community Schools reported 24.6% ELA proficiency and 21% in math.
Loogootee Schools posted an overall ELA proficiency rate of 49.7% and 53.2% in math.
State officials say the results highlight both progress in math and the continued need to strengthen literacy instruction statewide.
