After surviving the first round by 1 inch, Seattle Mariners star Cal “The Big Dumper”  Raleigh became the first catcher to win the event in its four decades of existence on Monday, edging out Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero in the final 18 to 15 in Atlanta. Caminero would have been the youngest Derby champion ever, at 22 years old. Raleigh is the second Mariner to win the Derby, joining Ken Griffey Jr. who won it three times.

The world’s top players have arrived at the 153rd Open Championship which will be held at the Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland, with the first round starting on Thursday. You can watch the first and second round of golf’s final major on the Golf Channel or stream it live on the NBC Sports App. The third and fourth rounds will be broadcast live on CBS and can be streamed on Paramount+.
Denver Sheriff Chad Bianco has announced that Broncos legend John Elway will not face charges after an investigation into the death of his business partner and former agent 62 year old Jeff Sperbeck who toppled off of a golf cart which Elway was driving, and hit his head on the asphalt. He was taken to a local medical center, where he died.
The New York Jets have locked down wide receiver Garrett Wilson
on a four-year, $130 million contract extension. Wilson will average $32.5 million a season, and $90 million of his new deal is guaranteed.
