Yozell M. Kirk, 104, passed away at 11:30 pm on July 3, 2025,at Gentle Care Nursing Home with her grandson David by her side. Yozell was born on September 21, 1920, in Vincennes and is the daughter of James and Bessie (Helderman) Cockerham. Yozell married Paul Kirk on November 7, 1938, and he preceded her in death on July 14, 1972.
Yozell enjoyed sewing and making doll dresses, giving them away to family and friends. She also enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles.
Survivors include her grandsons David Lancaster of Vincennes, and Thad Elliott of California. Yozell is preceded in death by her daughters, Janet Lancaster, Mary Ann Elliott and her siblings, Arthur Cockerham, Dale Cockerham, Kenneth Cockerham, Patricia Jacobs, Mary Etta Wagoner, and John Cockerham.
Graveside services for Yozell will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Latta officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Yozell’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
