
Ronald Lee Daugherty, 82, of Loogootee, Indiana passed away peacefully on Friday June 27, 2025, at Deaconess Midway in Evansville, Indiana.
He was born on March 28, 1943, in Washington, Indiana to Roy and Virginia (Ledgerwood) Daugherty.
Ronald married Patricia “Pat” (Crody) on February 14, 1981. He proudly served his country as a United States Navy Veteran and went on to build a long lasting and respected career in quality control at NSWC Crane, where he dedicated 31 years until his retirement.
Ron had a deep appreciation for firearms and enjoyed assembling, reloading, and target practice in his free time. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting before his health prevented him from doing these activities. A lifelong learner, Ron loved to read and came from a family of avid readers – a passion he carried throughout his life.
He was a member of St. John Catholic Church. Ron was faithful member of the American Legion Post 120, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 9395, and a 4th degree Knight and member of the Knights of Columbus and cherished the friendships he built there.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Daugherty, his children, Cynthia (Daniel) VanBibber, Ryan Daugherty, grandchildren, Tyberius Downey, Alexander Downey, Colton Downey, Raylan Daugherty, siblings, Mike Daugherty, niece, Heather (Dean) Mills, grandniece and nephews; Alexandra Mills, Cameron Mills, and sister-in-law, Diana Crody.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:00 A.M Thursday July 3, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bramble, Indiana. Burial and Military Rites will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2025, from 4:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee, Indiana and again on Thursday morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 9:00 A.M until 9:45 A.M.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Martin County Humane Society or St. Joseph Cemetery Association.
