Loogootee Post Office Nears Reopening After Tornado Damage

usps

After more than two months of closure due to tornado damage, the Loogootee Post Office is expected to reopen within the next one to two weeks, according to USPS officials. The facility was shut down following the EF2 tornado on March 15, which caused extensive damage. Since then, Loogootee residents have been retrieving their mail from the Washington Post Office or from mobile units. While teller services are not yet available, customers can now access their P.O. boxes inside the Loogootee building. Full services, including package pickup and teller assistance, are expected to resume once remaining repairs and equipment installations are completed.
