Two leading Pike County employers are embracing automation to enhance operations and support long-term growth. Petersburg-based Four Star Fabricators, Inc., celebrating 44 years in business, recently added a robotic welding arm with support from Indiana’s Manufacturing Readiness Grant. The technology improves efficiency on repetitive welding tasks and allows technicians to expand their skills in robot programming. Company President Steve Miller said the investment is helping meet growing demand while supporting workforce development. In Winslow, Stella-Jones, a key player in the railroad infrastructure industry, has invested over $7 million in upgrades to its facility, including a robotic arm for stacking railroad ties during the drying process. Plant Manager Steve Basham noted the robot boosts both efficiency and safety, operating around the clock if needed.
