The Martin County Commissioners met on May 27, to discuss a range of county matters, including public transportation funding and a payment related to the Sheriff’s Department app. Commissioners unanimously approved a $2,500 funding request from Ride Solution to support local transportation services, which help residents access jobs, medical care, and probation appointments. A $3,997 payment for the Sheriff’s App was also approved using Opioid Settlement funds, despite one dissenting vote from Commissioner Aaron Summers. The app’s remaining balance stemmed from its initial implementation last year. Other topics included highway maintenance updates, inmate housing options, emergency management efforts, and a new emergency bailiff position. The next meeting is scheduled for June 10 at 5:30 p.m.
