The Martin County Alliance for Economic Growth celebrated a night of community spirit at its first-ever Legacy Leadership Class. Three groups — the Shoals Beta Class, 4H Junior Leaders, and Shoals Cornerstone Food Pantry — presented pitches about their organizations’ needs to a panel of regional leaders. Judges Anne McComb and Jeff Quyle of Radius Indiana, Denny Spinner of the Center for Rural Engagement, and Julie Halbig of Regional Opportunity Initiatives were moved by the presentations; they went beyond their roles, personally donating $200 to support the Shoals Beta Class in purchasing flag holders for veterans’ graves. The 4H Junior Leaders were connected with crowdfunding resources to help improve the 4H open stage, while the Shoals Cornerstone Food Pantry claimed the $725 grand prize to upgrade their signage and shelving for improved service.
