Washington Police are investigating two incidents of property damage that occurred late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning at a residence on Vine Street. Just after 11 p.m. on May 28, officers responded to a report of a window being shot out. Although a suspect vehicle description was provided, police were unable to locate the vehicle or suspect at the time. At approximately 2:20 a.m., officers were called back to the same residence after another object was thrown at a different window. Shortly after, the suspected vehicle was found crashed into a tree in Oak Grove Cemetery, but no one was inside. Despite an extensive search, no suspect was located. A WPD detective was brought in to assist with the investigation. The suspected weapon, an air rifle, was recovered and seized. Police later identified a juvenile suspect, though no further details are being released due to their age. Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the public. Anyone with information or relevant security footage is urged to contact Sgt. Brandon Humphries at brandon.humphries@washingtonin.us or Detective Barry Hudson at barry.hudson@washingtonin.us. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search.
