The Daviess County Museum will welcome author and speaker Richard Day on Saturday, June 14, at 1:00 p.m. for a presentation on the lasting impact of the 1787 Northwest Ordinance. The free event will be held in the museum’s Kremp Room at 212 E. Main St. in Washington. The program is the second in the museum’s “Struggle for Liberty” speaker series, which explores the formation of the Indiana Territory. Day will highlight how the ordinance shaped early U.S. governance, banned slavery north of the Ohio River, and paved the way for statehood in the Midwest. Museum Director Becky Kremp encourages the public to attend and join the discussion. For more details, visit daviesscountyhistory.com or call (812) 257-0301.
