John R. “Rick” Hagerty, 77, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away peacefully at Sycamore Care Strategies on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Born in Washington, Indiana, on March 12, 1948, to the late Herman and Helen (Thompson) Hagerty.
Rick was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Loogootee, a U.S. Army veteran, having served his county in Vietnam; retired from NSWC Crane after a 40-year career in maintenance.
An avid sports fan, particularly the Loogootee Lions and the Colts, Rick enjoyed spending his time with family and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; 9 siblings: Connie McAtee, Francis Earl, Bernard, Lon, Wilma Jean, Dottie, Bobby, Janice Kay and Betty Lou; and survived by his brother-in-law, Glenn McAtee; several nieces & nephews; and longtime friends, Joe (Sharon) Allen & family & Paul & Deann Norris.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16th, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with burial and military rites to follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on the same day from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
