Southern Indiana Communities Receive Millions in State Road Improvement Grants

More than $200 million in state matching funds have been awarded to 245 Indiana cities, towns, and counties through INDOT’s Community Crossings Matching Grant program, aimed at supporting local road and infrastructure improvements.

Several southern Indiana communities were among the recipients, including:

Daviess County, which received over $1.1 million, while the City of Washington was granted $260,753.

Martin County was also awarded more than $1.1 million, with the Town of Shoals receiving $271,411.

Knox County received a significant boost of $1.5 million, and Wheatland was awarded just under $75,000.

Pike County secured just over $1.4 million.

In Greene County, the town of Newberry received $102,000.

Sullivan County was awarded $1.5 million, while Dubois County also received $1.5 million, and the town of Birdseye was granted $93,907.

The Community Crossings program is designed to help local governments fund improvements for roads and bridges.
