A little more than a year ago, in March of 2024, Daviess Community Hospital suffered major flood damage due to historic rainfall amounts. On Wednesday, DCH Chief Operating Officer, Dave Graber, and Chief Nursing Officer Jenna Bedwell gave the members of the Washington Rotary Club an update on the renovations and upgrades at the hospital since the flood. Bedwell and Graber told the Rotarians that in the past year the operating rooms have been completely rebuilt, the hospital’s lab has also been rebuilt and is now located closer to the admitting offices and the entrance of the hospital. The former lab area is now the education room. Bedwell said the critical care and ICU area has undergone extensive remodeling and has expanded to a total of 16 beds. Also, radiology now has a new, faster, and more patient-friendly MRI unit. Graber said the hospital has been working with the city and is dealing with the issues that caused the previous water backup, with construction beginning in the fall. Graber and Bedwell also said DCH has expanded its services by adding primary care at the Montgomery Clinic and, in association with St. Vincent’s, has added a number of specialists coming to the Specialty Clinic at DCH.
DCH has also received a private donation to locate a garden area in memory of Dr. Suresh Lohano near the helipad. Graber and Bedwell also reminded the Rotarians that tickets are still available for the DCH Foundation’s annual Kentucky Derby Fund Raising Gala.
