A dramatic police chase across state lines ended Monday with the arrest of Nina Adalina Devillez, 31, of Santa Claus, following an officer-involved shooting and the theft of a police cruiser. The incident began around 8:52 a.m. yesterday, April 21, when a 911 call reported a reckless driver on SR 62 near Walmart. A Chandler Police officer located the vehicle, but the driver, later identified as Devillez, refused to stop and eventually crashed into a ditch. Wearing a motorcycle helmet, Devillez allegedly threatened the officer with a sword-like object. The officer fired, hitting her at least once. Despite being injured, Devillez fled in the officer’s patrol vehicle. The chase continued at speeds over 120 mph until Devillez crashed into a field in Kentucky and attempted to flee on foot. She was Tased by officers and taken into custody, then transported to Owensboro Health Hospital for treatment. The Chandler officer involved is on administrative leave as Indiana State Police lead the investigation.
