Indianapolis and Vincennes – Arrive, a global leader in smart mailbox technology, is teaming up with Good Samaritan in Vincennes, Ind., and Community Health Network in central Indiana to introduce its innovative Mailbox-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform. The groundbreaking service will be showcased at both healthcare facilities in early November. Arrive will collaborate with autonomous ground robotics provider Ottonomy for these demonstrations. During the showcase, a drone will transport a package simulating a medical sample from a considerable distance to each hospital. Upon arrival, the drone will deposit the sample into an Arrive smart mailbox located outside the hospitals. A ground robot will then retrieve the package, transport it inside the facilities, and deliver it to its final destination using elevators. In various remote areas worldwide, drones have been deployed to deliver essential medical supplies to patients. Notably, Zipline and Michigan Medicine plan to offer free drone delivery of prescription medicine next year. Moreover, some hospitals have incorporated robots to transport medications from hospital pharmacies to nurses. Organizations are increasingly considering aerial and ground robotics for last-mile delivery solutions.
