Vincennes is addressing its housing shortage with the help of independent contractors and funds from the American Rescue Plan Act. Three housing projects are currently underway in Vincennes, which include a total of 14 new homes at Broadway Place, 10 single-family homes on Barnett Street, and eight or more homes on Thompson Drive. The projects involve the installation of roads, sidewalks, and water lines, and construction of the homes is expected to be completed as early as fall this year. Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum believes that the housing projects could benefit the entire community by creating job opportunities. Those interested in buying one of the new homes can contact the mayor’s office or Lori Cardinal about the homes on Barnett Street.
