Ruth Ellen (Stuckey) Allison, 97, of Washington, IN, peacefully went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Emerald Place in Washington.

Ruth was born on July 30, 1925, to the late Donald and Maude (Meade) Stuckey in Washington, IN.

Ruth attended Pleasant Hill School and graduated from Washington High School in 1943. Shortly after high school, on August 27, 1944, Ruth married the love of her life, Burke Allison, and they spent 62 years together before he preceded her in death. Together, they had three children: Dale, Jean, and Jane.

Ruth was the oldest living member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Washington, IN. She was a former member of the Pleasant Hill UMW, and of the Ophelia Homemakers Club. Ruth also worked for Peoples Bank in Washington for several years as a bookkeeper. She loved to garden, grow flowers, and mow her grass. Ruth was an amazing cook and liked to cook for her family. She loved her family deeply, and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving Ruth are her children, Dale (Chris) Allison of Washington, IN, Jean Ann (Paul) Franklin of Walton KY, and Jane (Steve) Frette of Washington, IN; her grandchildren, Jody (Elroy) Sybesma, Sarah (Jason) Fry, Clint Allison (Lyndsey Harner), Don (Tiffany) Franklin, Susan (Rick) Kunkel, Alison (Ross) Klippel, and Megan (Andy) Schlesing, her great – grandchildren; Haley (Max) Purcell, Grant Fry, Gabriella Fry, Alexandria Allison, Grace Allison, Fletcher Harner, Charlie Harner, Lucy Harner, Lynna Allison, Annie Kunkel, Olivia Franklin, Griffin Klippel, Collins Klippel, Lennox Klippel, Isabel Schlesing, and Gabe Schlesing, her great – great – grandchildren; Hunter Purcell, Dixie Purcell; and her sister, Wilma Ann Skomp.Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Maude, her husband, Burke Allison, and her grandson, Jason Paul Franklin.

Visitation for Ruth will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 10:00 – 1:00pm at Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. A funeral service will begin immediately following visitation at 1:00pm, with Pastor John Stidham officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Veale Township, where Ruth will be laid next to her husband, Burke. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Washington, IN, 47501.
