The 53-year-old career scoring record for men’s major college basketball still belongs to Pete Maravich.
Detroit Mercy’s Antoine Davis fell just short of the mark in the Titans’ 71-66 loss to host Youngstown State on Thursday in the second round of the Horizon League tournament.
Davis fell three points shy of tying the record of 3,667, set by the LSU legend in 1970. Davis entered Thursday’s game with 3,642 career points, needing 26 points to pass Maravich.
Davis scored 22 points on 7-of-25 shooting Thursday night. He was 4-of-16 on three-pointers and 4-of-4 on free throws.
